Following on from the success of last winter’s bowling using the artificial pitch behind Edgworth Cricket Club, I confirm that we intend to carry on with more winter bowling after our green closes in October.

Unfortunately, Turton Tigers have booked our Friday evening slot (plus they pay more than we do for the hire), so we can’t offer any regular evening matches.

However, we have been given a Friday afternoon slot, (12 – 3pm) in addition to our Wednesday 12 – 3pm slot.

I have received some feedback from last season and the following enhancements will be made:

– The intention is to fully utilise the “cgleague” website that most of you are familiar with this time.  This will generate fixtures and league tables for us plus Captains / Admins will be able to enter their team’s match results directly.  Jim Sheffield has kindly offered to set up and manage the system for us, so no more dodgy spreadsheets by yours truly will be required!!  Team names and members will need to be registered before we start, so that everything can run smoothly from the off.

– In addition we are looking at match fees to be paid by Bank Transfer, to simplify the cash collection and handling and making the whole thing easier on the day.

– It would also be possible to have more than the 8 teams we had last season, the league(s) would then run a little longer.

– Utilisation of the Friday afternoon would also allow either two matches per week or two separate leagues to run in parallel.

Matches will again be 3 pairs games per session, at 15 up.  Teams can be from any club or mixes and can have any (reasonable) name.

If it is possible, we will start the league(s) from Wednesday 4th October.

The organising team of Margaret T, Cliff, Margaret W & Eileen are all willing to carry on as last time but would appreciate a few more helpers to run the matches on the days and help with drinks etc.  Hopefully simplifying the management of matches etc via the website and removing cash collection in the main will mean the task is much simpler and volunteers will be racing forwards to help.
