It is with great sadness that I report the passing of Norman Averill on 11th May. Norman was taken ill on the bowling green during a home match against our friends from Turton. Our thanks go to those players from both teams who helped Norman until paramedics arrived. Despite this, he later passed away in the hospital.
Norman had reached his 90th birthday a couple of weeks ago and was a valued member at Edgworth and Bradshaw bowling clubs.
He will be remembered as a true gentleman, always cheerful and a pleasure to bowl with, whether in a team or at a club competition; he was not a player who groaned in defeat or gloated over a victory.
We send our thoughts and condolences to Norman’s family and friends including those at Bradshaw BC at this difficult time. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.
